Spice Girls Fans Wanted a Reunion Tour, but They're Getting a Box Set Instead

Spice Girls fans thought a reunion tour was finally happening. Instead, the group's big reveal turned out to be a box set, and the internet has feelings about it.

Spice Girls fans have been looking forward to a full-blown reunion tour after the all-girl group teased what appeared to be one. But fans were soon disappointed when they learned they were getting a compilation album instead.

On September 9, the group teased an announcement on social media, captioned: “10.09.2026 | 2pm BST.” Many fans believed a tour was finally happening, only to have their bubble burst the following day, when it was revealed that all they were getting was “The Singles Collection,” a compilation set to be released on November 6.

The box set, according to the announcement, features “ALL the singles. ALL the B-sides. And a few surprises from the vault.” In detail, that includes 14 records and CDs, each single's original artwork and B-side, and what the group's Instagram post called "one of our earliest demos," a track titled "Do You Think About Me."

Fans were quick to jump on the comments, expressing their disappointment. "Negotiating with my husband on my price cap for Spice Girls tickets today was for NOTHING," one fan wrote. Another joked, "puts credit card back in purse," while a third quipped, "Kids will eat tonight! Thought it was beans on toast for a month." One fan called it "the biggest let down of 2026."

The 5-member group, which began in 1994, shot to global fame with the release of their first album, “Spice” in 1996, featuring the hits, "Wannabe," "Say You'll Be There" and "2 Become 1." They released a second album, “Spiceworld,” in 1997, and their final album, “Forever,” in 2000 with the fitting single, “Goodbye.”

Since breaking up in 2000, they’ve reunited several times. They went on tour from 2007 to 2008, dubbed the “Return of the Spice Girls Tour,” and performed at the 2012 London Olympics. In 2019, they returned to the stage without Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), who has been focused on her fashion label.

Ahead of that 2019 tour, Spice Girls Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) , Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Geri Halliwell Horner (Ginger Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) addressed Beckham's absence in an interview on “The Jonathan Ross Show.”

"I saw Victoria recently and obviously, we've all been in contact. She is still very much a part of the Spice Girls, she really supports us and we really support her," Chisholm said. "But she did raise the point that she was never actually asked. We just presumed."

Halliwell Horner added that the group "knew" Beckham wouldn't want to join, since she'd "moved on" with her fashion label.

Though Beckham skipped the tour, she wished her bandmates luck on Instagram. Halliwell stepped in to do Beckham’s vocals during the shows.

Fans are still hoping for that reunion to happen, but for now, they will have to settle for “The Singles Collection” and enjoy the group’s greatest hits from the comforts of their homes.
