Eva Mendes Says Her Ryan Gosling Tribute Tattoo Is 'The Only One I've Ever Wanted'

For years, fans have speculated about what Eva Mendes' wrist tattoo says about her relationship status. Now, she's opening up about what it actually means to her.

Eva Mendes confirmed that her only tattoo, a tribute to longtime partner Ryan Gosling, is exactly the ink she wants and nothing more.

The actress shared a series of black and white images on Instagram on August 28, including one showing her wrist tattoo, which reads "de Gosling." After a follower commented on the ink, Mendes responded that “It’s the only one I have, the only one I’ve ever wanted.”

Mendes' wrist tattoo first appeared on her Instagram feed in August 2022, then showed up again in another post the following month, fueling speculation that she and Gosling were secretly married. In Latino culture, adding "de" before a husband's last name traditionally signals marriage.

Gosling and Mendes met on the set of "The Place Beyond the Pines" in 2011. They have never publicly confirmed a wedding, but Mendes did refer to Gosling as her "husband" during a November 2022 appearance on Australia's "Today" show.

Married or not, Mendes and Gosling share two daughters, Esmeralda, 11, and Amanda, 10. They also recently welcomed a new dog named Charlie into their family.

Mendes has said becoming a parent wasn't something she always pictured for herself. In a 2020 interview with Australia's Nova 96.9, she said she "never wanted babies before" falling in love with Gosling and that having her first child at 40 ended up working out organically given the timing of her career.
