Brian's brother, Zach Hickerson, was the one who found her unresponsive on a chair while Brian slept in another room.

Before the "Nashville" alum was treated by first responders for an apparent overdose and cardiac arrest, according to 911 dispatch audio, Brian administered the overdose reversal medication Narcan, according to Zach.

After realizing she was unconscious, Zach explained in a statement to TMZ, "I immediately called 911 and Brian gave her Narcan. We then jointly performed CPR while 911 was on speaker until Fire and EMS arrived."

"At that point we watched as they tried every measure possible to save her life," he added.

A statement from the Greenville County Coroner's Office confirms that "first responders and Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and located a female in cardiac arrest."

Hayden, who passed away at age 36 on August 16, 2026, and Brian were first linked in 2018 and remained together on and off until her death, in what was described as a tumultuous and abusive relationship. During their romance, Hayden grew close to his family, including his brother.

"Hayden was one of my dearest and closest friends that I loved and cared about for the last 8 years," Zach said. "Out of respect for her loved ones, the speculation and sensationalism of her death needs to end until the facts can be released from the investigation."
