Rupert Grint Returns as Ron Weasley to the World of 'Harry Potter'

The actor from the original 2000s franchise has decided to step back into the magical role that made him famous, but it's not in the highly anticipated HBO show.

Rejoice, "Harry Potter" fans! Rupert Grint will be back in his wizard robes, playing Ron Weasley once again, but for only a short while next year in Broadway's production of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." This return follows a fellow actor who will complete his run just before the original Ron greets fans again.

Grint played one third of the franchise's famous trio, which included Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. He will be on stage at the Lyric Theatre in New York for just 17 weeks starting on February 2, 2027, until May 30, 2027.

The story in this play takes place 19 years after what happened in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," where other characters, like Harry's son Albus Severus Potter, take center stage, but several beloved figures still make an appearance.

In a statement, the actor reflected on playing Ron now that they're both parents. "Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can't wait to meet him again in this stage of life," Grint said.

Grint is not the first actor to reprise his famous role at this stage. Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, is currently part of the production, and fans will be able to enjoy his performance until January 3, 2027.
